Conservation, sustainability and the ocean resource will again take center stage at the Fourth Annual Reef Renaissance Film Festival®, scheduled for Saturday, 11 June, at the Sunset Room of Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their entries for a chance at winning one of our unique Awards. Please see the Festival page for rules and information.
The lineup for this year's event is absolutely spectacular. The Evening Festival will feature films by internationally-renowned filmmakers, Howard & Michele Hall, Leandro Blanco, Jonathan Bird, Evan Sherman, Nancy J. McGee, Michel Labrecque & Julie Ouimet, and Paul Cater Deaton. PCD will also serve as our Master of Ceremonies.
Admission is free, and the evening Film Festival begins promptly at 7:00. Vintage SCUBA diving films will be screened from 5:00 to 6:30. Go back in time, and see such remarkable productions as the 1916 version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," episodes of "Sea Hunt," and other historical films.
The event will be held in the Sunset Room, adjacent to Iggie's Bar & Restaurant, so food and beverages will be available for purchase. This is a family-friendly event, and the public is encouraged to attend.
MISSION STATEMENT: To recognize and create awareness of the desperate need for protection of our precious oceans and marine resources, to engender inspired stewardship, to serve as a conduit through which many more people may become conservationists, and to provide a platform for both seasoned and emerging filmmakers and media creators to champion sustainability and best practices through film and interactive arts. The event will be held annually on or about World Oceans Day, 8 June. This year's event will be held on 11 June.
